Today’s world moves at a demanding pace, and teenagers face a host of decisions on a daily basis. Often, high-performing students experience pressure to exceed academic and personal limits, heightening the demands they already face as teenagers. The mission of the counseling staff at the Tennessee Governor’s Academy is to provide support for each individual student as it relates to personal issues, social adjustment, career aspirations, and college preparation. The emphasis of the counseling program is to help students approach life decisions with a more mature self concept and a more clearly defined identity, apply that knowledge to their futures, and manage the many on-going tasks of their busy day-to-day lives.
